Capacitors in series do not add, they divide. Four of 100pF in series equals 25pF. Three of 100pF in series = 33.3pF. If you want to increase capacitance, wire them in parallel. Then the values add.bioniclebert wrote:And it works! I used 3 100PF compacitors that I pulled off of a GBO board.
I got em near the Link cable. There should be 4 capacitors there that say 101 on them. De solder them and hook e'm in series(i cut up a breadboard)
that way you have 400Pf. I am using 3 out of the 4 compacitors and it works fine.

So, can someone post a schematic for this mod?

Also, would connecting a switch to allow composite in to still work affect the circuit? (set up so both C and Y get disconnected at the same time from the board)

Thanks for the tutorial! I setup Svideo for my PC but I have a problem, I get vertical bars on my screen that really look bad.


Sorry for the (lack of) focus in the pics, Im sure most of you know how hard it is to take a decent picture of an LCD. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to resolve it?

yea i have...haven't devloped a fix for it yet though
Oddly, my PS2 modchip seems to have fixed the problem with Y correction...
I was working on a very hard mod last week to get the monitor to think RGB mode but strip the sync from a composite signal (to get rid of the PS2 RGB green tint), however you might want to do the reverse. I can help a little....the LTS chip that no one can find a schematic for handles the screens mode. +5v (logic hi) on pin one is Composite input. GND (logic low) is RGB input. You can fool it into taking composite sync from your computer possibly and take just the other video information from the Composite signal. To do this I would say add +5v to pin 1 of the LTS, input composite from the video point by the AN chroma encoder chip and cut the preceeding traces. Then feed in the Sync line though I'm not sure exactly where....maybe to the MB TFT controller.

That wouldnt work because my videocard is too stupid. It barely outputs Svid most of the time.
By the way, What are the R_YIN and B_YIN near where the luma gets connected? The way they're labeled it would seem like component, but the manual you have doesnt say anything about it really. Component would be awesome.

Just disconnect that one side of the cap. This disconnects the chroma and luma inputs from eachother.
Connect Luma to the Composite signal in. This will switch it out of Analog RGB mode (I believe it detects the Sync line).
And voila! Ground your S-video (obviously) ans you're good to go =)

In the first pic where it sais to take the cap off, can you just rip the whole thingy off and solder to the board? O is there something important about it that will break the screen if i take the whol thing off?

Has anyone had any real success with this mod (i.e. noticeable video quality difference)? I tried tweaking it abit by removing the chroma killer trap on pin 59 and isolating luma better with an additional resistor (like the datasheet recommends). However, I keep getting the same result- images that look the same as composite (I can't notice any difference). I know the chroma and luma lines are seperate though because at input they read different voltages and produce a bad image when swapped...so they ARE going in seperately, I just think the chip is mixing the signals internally 
It doesn't say on the datasheet that it has a dedicated S-Video mode, only that it ACCEPTS Y/C inputs....but maybe it's only capable out OUTPUTING Component, RGB, and Composite..... :/
