LCD screen power

Can any one give me a rough estimate of how many amps a 12 inch LCD normally takes?

I'd guess in the neighborhood of 1-2 amps, pretty bad for a portable. Plus what screen do you plan to get? It will cost you a ton of money. I hope it's not a laptop screen...

For the millionth time you can not use a laptop screen. You either strick it lucky and have an old screen that will accept analoge input, or you buy the analoge to digital convert for that LCD. Otherwise give it up.

A PSone screen is under $50 its very good and Gamelver will vouche that its a superb monitor to use.

I want a bigger screen then a PSone screen. A laptop screen can be done. Wait for it.

Good when I have 5 years in with a company I'm sure I'll see one. Really if you want a bigger screen do what Ben did for the Atari 800 Laptop.

Sorry to break it to you, but you can't use a laptop screen. Not to say it can't be done, but unless you're extremely adept with electronics, you won't have the skills to build it. There are very few people who could figure it out, and probably none on this forum.

You can get a nice screen from the same place Ben got his Phoenix screens and use that. Granted it'll be very expensive, but you can get almost any size you want.

If that doesn't appeal to you, there are some cheap LCDs that accept composite and S-Video elsewhere, or you could find one that accepts component and use the component video cable for the GameCube to do that (though you'll be lucky to find a medium-sized LCD that accepts direct component).

Wluldn't it work if i got a video card and wired the 'cube through that? I ran my SNES on my computer doing the same thing.

Its not the same, on your computer you had a system to control the video input. As I said before you'd have to buy a new controller board for the LCD inorder to get it to accept analoge input. And to put things in perspactive LCD controller boards are not cheap, they're typicly $250 or more.
