Sony PS1 Screen (Halogen?) Bulb Voltage

I've searched the forum (that search function stinks) and I can't find this anywhere. Does anyone (I'm sure somebody here does) know what the power reqirements for the bulb from the Sony PS1 screen are? If I can get them, I have another project I'd like to put it in - I need a good, bright, and small worklight for my shop, and I have a nice bulb right here that I'd hate to waste. I've heard the things aren't cheap, so if I could reuse it, that'd be pretty cool.

Thanks for anything you might have to offer.

Probably 120v or more.

Well, the fact it says: "Warning: High Voltage" on the pcb isnt to reassuring.

IIRC the CCFL uses ~500V

It's 690Vrms at 40-80kHz. If you're looking to use it for something else, probably the best thing to do is figure out all of the components on the screen's controller board that are used to start and power it and either take them off (if they aren't being used by anything else) or see if you can buy similar ones and make a new controller for it.

You MIGHT (and I mean MIGHT) be able to drive it with a simple CCFL inverter from a PC modding site. I'm not completely sure, since those tend to run around 750v, not 690, but you may get lucky. If not, just buy a cheap white CCFL kit and you're set (or you could try measuring voltages going into the inverter and seeing if they are things you could generate, I think there are 4 pins leading to the PSone screen inverter).

I have't looked into it myself, but why don't you just chop off the black-lighty bit of the PSone screen. Then mod it to suite you. I mean the PSone screen only needs ~7.5V input, so that would save you extra work, and money.
