Yeah the main reason I wanted an iPod was MP3, but as I can watch videos why the hell not? Besides things like TWiT have video and I prefer to watch the video when I can.

I've avoided researching other players because really there are not many and to be fair Sony and Apple have a long standing of quality eletronics. I don't know anything about that Archos player.

Definetly iPod for music. I haven't seen a video iPod yet, so I dunno about that. I do know that the PSPs video player sucks, so I might as well say iPod is better there too.
PSP is just too big and clunky for movies and music. IMHO, iPod rulez.

I prefer a cheap MP3 player to either of these since I often listen to music while skating or biking. That way if I drop/smash/utterly destroy it, no big deal. $30 down the drain. If I had destroyed an ipod or PSP I jsut lost a freakin LOT of money. And for me money dosn't come easy.

Yeah you gotta love the cheap-o music players. I ahve a minidisc player that My brother gave me (hah the fool!) because he got a real 512mb audiovox mp3 player. I use a CD player or a walkman. so if I drop the CD player I'm out of $10 if it breaks and the walkman is very durable.

But Triton why not get a gp2x and a cheap 512mb music player?

Save your money, and go for the mobiBLU. You can get it for $130 at Wal-mart.

It's LESS THAN 1 inch cubed. 8) I would love to get one, as they look quite stylish IMO. But, it may not work for you, as it only has a 1GB storage capacity. That would be plenty for me, though.

Im not really a fan of the Ipod, if you want just music id go with a creative Zen, the mini is very small resiliant with the same capacity as an ipod mini (i think), but id go with the Creative zen touch (which i have) its 20Gb (although u can get 40GB versions) and its about £30 cheaper than a regular Ipod (last time i checked).

Its very tough and holds about 10,000 songs

also it reads wma file formats as well as mp3 (which the ipod doesnt) whic h is good for me because almost all my music is wma

Well I think I'll just go for the iPod. The PSP from a lot of you is poor in video quality, too big and very fragile. I also looked at two other video/MP3 players Vugo and that Archos thing. The Acrchos was $599, way out of my budget! And the Vugo has too small of a storage capacity (128MB).

So thank you for all your help and info.

i am very fearful of those now. My friend got one, was anal about protecting it, and it broke in less than a year. Now that is bogus...

Creative Zen Micro's are awesome, mine is a 256MB model, and holds about 60 songs, enough for me, because I change them often.

You can pay around $300 for a PSP with MP3/movie playback and picture viewing, or you can buy a $129 Nintendo DS with a $25 dollar accesory that lets it do all that as well.

Just found this pic.

Personaly I prefer the PSP to the iPod Video.

http://www.pspworld.com/sony-psp/psp/ps ... 001968.php

This website is just up your ally. Apperintly it took 12 hours to encode the test movie for the iPod and just 3 for the PSP.

The PSP encoded file was 150 mb less than the iPods and at the same quality.

The Ipod playing the video lasted 2 hours and 21 minutes where as the PSP lasted 7 hours and 30 minutes. Choose for yourself.
