NES expansion connector

I have the original NES and I was wondering if you can remove the expansion pack on the back of the console. So if anyone has the answer you can close the topic when I have it.

No Turbo I'm just taking it off for the hell of it...

But yeah I'm going with a design like minkster's but only with the lid on the case.
