The basic plot is, and will be unless I get sufficient argument from the community, or any from Ben

So the game might take place in 2000? Or does the date even matter?
Also, just having him make one VCSP, while it is how he started, may seem to limit the game, especially for those who haven't played an Atari.
I'm wondering if you can't make multiple portables in the game, so that more people with different fav consoles would be interested.
Also, if you wanted to own properties like in Vice City, you could possibly buy a vaccum forming shop, a game store to get discounts on prices, a rat shack (one of the old school good ones) to get discounts on batteries, etc. You could earn the green by getting cash from missions or for completing portables.

Warranty-Voiding fun!

thats exactly what I thought. I think you should go through all, or at least most of his portables, so that it kinda sums up his portable building history, unless you want to set it up for a sequel. My plot idea was this:
Extremetech calls him and wants to make a book on his ub3r 1337 portables, but he sold/lost them (or something), so he needs to make those 8 portables in a specified amount of time (maybe no time and the time magically runs out right when you beat the game).
That way, you'd have two places to do things: CNC shop, and wherever you buy/make hand-made portables. GTA usually has you working for more than one side.

Wow this topic grows a page a day. If you want maybe we could make it its own forum... but only if you're serious about finishing the product. I used to program, long ago, and I know how easy it is to start and not finish.
That said...
1) Don't have a plot involving publishers. That might not be appreciated, if you catch my drift.
2) Having it start in 2000 is a pretty good idea.
3) I had this idea for a battery powered, clip-fed hot glue gun. If you'd like, I could draw it up (in pencil
for someone to scan into the game as a model.

Ben, I agree with what you said about programs being easy to start and hard to finish.. I've been using VB for five years and only finished about 15% of what I started. Forunately I've thought this one through much more then I usually do.
I think it would be best if we waited a while before we started a forum - there's just no way to tell what the future holds.
I would also like some regular prodding and nudging from you guys - if I go for a few days without a friendly reminder then the chances of this progressing are not helped.

Make one of the missions as "fool sony into replacing your fried PSOne."Joes2Silly wrote:you should also have Sony after you for "tampering" and voiding the warrenty on the PSONE
