Hmmm?
I just thought of this.....
Isnt Making Portables and selling them.. ILLEGAL?
(Not illegal if you dont sell them)
Duue to CopyRight, becuase You guys are Selling a System still owned by The original Company to make a profite after making it portable?

Just like that, if you made a Sony Portable, then sold it... Couldnt Sony sue you for CopyRight Infringment and such?
Thanks.

I don't think anybody here is actualy claiming the (console)systems as their own creation. They are just selling their hard work of making it portable(+cost of parts).

I doubt it, after all it's no different from selling the non-portable unit on Ebay for a profit.
Besides even if they could sue you they probably wouldn't since it would do them no good. Think about it, if you portablize (sp?) Your PS2 then sell the portable now you need a new PS2, they make money (if you buy it new). Also if you get famous (like Ben) it's positive publicity for them and their system.

Say im making a ps1p, I have to go buy the console, SONY MAKES MONEY, I have to buy the ps1 screen, SONY MAKES MONEY, I have to buy a sony lithium camcorder battery, ONCE AGAIN SONY MAKES MONEY, and finally we are not making modifications to the operation and function of the console, we are not making it do something that it's not supposed to, we are just taking their hardware and connecting it all together. with that logic it would be illegal to hook up your ps1 to your official ps1 screen and your official ps1 controller, and your official ps1 battery pack that they sold for the ps1 when it came out, and then sell it and make profit.

This has been discussed here and there in the past. You own the hardware, and are free to do as you'd like with it. There is no agreement you have made with anyone saying that you wouldn't do this stuff. The one possible exception to this is the xbox, which I have heard (not sure if it's true) has a hardware lisence, meaning the xbox is property of microsoft, but you are paying money for the use of it.
However, you need to be careful about using logos. These companies have paid money to trademark the designs so that only they can use it. Atari in particular has been very poop egress like about that, and has sent messages to many websites using its logo.

Alright I'm going to explain this the best way I can.
You buy the console you own the thing. As long as you don't modify it where things that are copyrighten (i.e. BIOS and/or Firmware) you are not breaking any laws. There is a quote from the Microsoft rep in Germany. He's quote was translated to something like "You can tare the Xbox apart if you want."
This is why Ebay doesn't aloue people to sell modded XBoxs. Its modifing the console's BIOS so you can run illegal copies, software and exploits.
We do not break any laws, we void warrenties.

I am a geek.
The buyers aren't paying for the system, and the portablizers aren't selling the systems and taking credit for it, the buyers are paying for the work that they put into them, (rewiring, installing screen, buttons, ect.)
