Do you mean the link is bad or the program doesn't load?

i get page cannot be displayed, could i download it on my XP machine and send the installation file to my 2000 machine, and have it install?

and yes, if you were to download a msi file, then send it to the computer you want to install it on, in theory it would work.

That is what the "Network Install" was meant for. It is a large file but doesn't require an internet connection for installation. Are you able to access any pages on the 2000 computer? If not you have more problems.

You probably used the express install. It requires a working internet connection, which it sounds like you do not have.
Use the network install, it is 132MB.

It is just the term MS uses to describe it. It is the entire service pack in one file.
It doesn't require a network connection.

ok im downloading, got to figure out how to get it to my windows 2000 machine, maybe i could use my Ipod
