What IS this thing?

? I've seen this thing several times before, (quickest example I could find was daguuy's avatar) and it seems as though everybody but me knows what it is. I almost feel left out of a huge circle of internet fanboys. Know what I mean?

Kinda like not knowing what "All your base are belong to us" means. (which has developed into a huge "internet thing" with flash videos popping up everywhere) So can somebody please explain to me where it came from? Thanks.
