Battery question

Post by madc0w »

i have a question. Im making a laptop cooler so i can do marathon doom sessions, and i have a question. I'm using a 9.6volt battery with 1600mah and a 12 volt fan with 1500 mah. Will the fan run for about an hour, or will the Mah used by the fan change with voltage? Thanks!

The fan will probably run for around 50 minutes or so on that battery. And mAh is a measurement of how much current a power source can support over a period of one hour; the fan's current draw would just be in milliamps, not milliamp hours :).

How big is the fan by the way? 1500 mA is a LOT of current for a fan to draw.

I'm quite sure you mean the fan draws 150mA. Really, 1500mA is quite absurd.

in honor of madcows avatar, id like to tell everyone that i found some 7 volt 40mm fans at sayal (i think they were 40 mm. is that a standard size? maybe 30mm. they were real tiny though). i dont remember the current they were rated for.

anyhow, i got one, but when i got home i realized i had accidentally grabbed on of the 24v ones that were apparently right beside them.

:( oh well.
