NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by benheck »

What could have been the best videogame movie ever will now be a vapid, forgettable piece of "eh"

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/051228b.php

Castlevania NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the heck are they making Resident Evil 3? Or Tomb Raider 3, for that matter? Weren't both sequels flops?

I have to admit, though, Resident Evil was probably the least crappy video game movie I've seen. Paul WS Anderson isn't Uwe Boll, but he's not that great either.

At least Guillermo "Hellboy" Del Toro will probably make a watchable Halo, though I don't care about that game/movie. Watch though - he'll make Halo take place all underground.

Heh that rhymes, anyways, Doom the movie...well there wasn't MUCH too expect from it...the game itself had a WEAK plot. It was pretty hard to make such a crappy story into a two hour wonder. Hell, they even got the wrong game for the poster. RE, it's a cliched horror movie. People dieing: a certain extremely whiny or extremely brave to die first. If they had just followed the ORIGINAL story of RE, all would be good, but NO, they had to make their OWN crap...

eh, I've given up on game movies....I saw the Mortal Kombat one and the Super Mario Bros one and after gouging my eyes out for a while I've decided to just play the games, not watch them :-P.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Ya, movies generaly make great games but games make horible movies because they try and make it appeal to more of a general audience rather than just the people who have played the games, thats why most of the polts for game movies are wattered down.

Thats why I liked FF7: AC, you had to have an underlying understanding of the game, and a good one at that before you would understand it. It was writen for gamers not the average jo that goes to movies.

The reason the videogame => movie thing doesn't work is that the people in holywood don't know what's a good idea if it beat them to a pulp in the street! They take good games and with their wonderful ideas perverse the consept like a rapest does.

You want a good movie made from a videogame... your going to have to talk to someone like Ben; an independent film maker. They're goal is more about the message or the story not how much crap they can do visually.

Ben really you could do a great Battle Front movie. You should see about writting up the script... once your 100 year project is complete.

But that's not live action, it's just a CG sequel to the FFVII storyline.

Eggzactly! But they are still fun for a laugh when you are really bored. I watched Street Fighter the other day.... I was falling on the ground laughing my ass off. I didn't realize that it was comedy at first, but then Bison came out in his cape

God when I was very ill and delirious I watched street fighter the movie 2-3 times a day especially at 1-6 in the morning phasing out every few mins usually and occasionally getting the oh so needed sleep. That went on for about 120 days :( .

Street Fighter was a joke... plain and simple. Ofcourse the greater joke was Street Fighter the Movie (game). I know Bloodryne is coming out January. I've never seen the movie, so I might see it with a friend that has played the game.

I have to say this I know that seeing a movie that is based off a great selling book is one you see before reading the book as you will nevere enjoy it as much. Video games to movies is worst. I'm not sure if everyone will agree but I think its because everyone has played the game or seen it. Because of this a large majority of the audiance have high expectations of the movie. And the fan base of games isn't like that of any other, book, comics or whatever.

Castlevania has a well definded storyline, one that would make a great book. And if I had to venture an idea of what game would be the best to base the movie off of, I would say Castlevania III (or the one where Alucard appears first). I know I may sould like a poen of peon of the MPAA but if the first movie did well they could move into a sequal vary easily.
