Apple store network? Down!

I was at the apple store today and the line was all backed up and stuff, pretty much every store employee was at one register (you could say, more like Mac) so one employee comes up to us (me and the fam) and says, wanna check out over here? So we go over he scans our items and charges the credit card (all in one device I may add) then goes over to the register, he comes back. He says "Yeah our whole network is down, all across the United States".

HA! Well at least we got out without a wait after that.

Why would a major company's server go out all across the USA? What do they have to run it all a windows 98 computer for everything?

What?! The entire U.S.? I almost can't believe that the whole network would or could be taken out, I know there is a way but why the hell would someone do such a thing? And to top it off why does Apple have a 24 hour update of their store's inventory? An end of day would be fine I'd think.

Ya that is kind of weird, tho not imposible, some leet hacker could have tryed to take them down but the only way that would work is if Apple ran all there cashes togerther in one giant network and with every sale needing to connect to the network.

o i have this story about apple store's yesterday when i was going to blockbuster this person gets out of his car and asks me "where is the apple store?" and i live in sarasota wich is a small city and i have never heard of an apple store bieng around here
