Okay,

So why dont you guys instead of chopping up the NES, get a GBA ($25.00), put it in a differenent caseing with the NES port built it (like $10.00)?

I understand some people enjoy ripping the NES apart, which I would be doing if the exchange (used video game store, ect.) wasnt out of them. But this is quite convienent, doesnt the GBA have a backlight built in?

No, the gba doesnt have a backlight. And let me tell you one thing.
NO!!! it wont work!!! they are different processors, graphic unit, displays, controls, and tons of other things. IT WONT WORK!!!

That will definitely not work. The processors are all wrong, and you'd have to code all the mappers into it yourself. Plus build some sort of converter board for the GBA to read the carts... Maybe kevin Horton could do it, but he's leet with electronics.

There are only 2 ways to easily play NES games entirely on a GBA:

1. Buy the Classic NES series games
2. Software that plays the game ROMS off a flash cart, but that's illegal.

Besides, building the portable is fun (usually) and is a good learning experience. There should be more people out there who enjoy working with tools to build things. (Bring out the Norm Abrham in everybody!) Setting up a flash cart to play NES games is not nearly as fulfilling as playing that first game of Super Mario Bros. or Contra on the NESp you built with your own two hands.

Uh okay, I just remember hearing somewhere that there is a port for a GBA for NES carts but oh well.

there is, but you would have to get a noac and the gameboy av adapter, and make it small, which is hard and expensive

so yes, your idea would work, but it would suck. IIRC, the "time machine" is unresponsive and the GBA isn't backlit, so you'd have to get an afterburner for it.

making a NESp from a NES or a NOAC is definitely way better, even if it is a bit more expensive.
