wow im surprised my batteries havnt exploded in my face yet, i touched positive to negative on one battery on accident and i thought i would die. but seriously these things are great so far they are extremely thin and perfect for a portable

yeah watch the shorting out-ness. they are supposed to explode when you do that.

i had one accidentaly short out in my backpack this year. it was shorted for between 10 minutes and an hour - i put it in my bag at the beginning of one lecture and didnt notice until i was in the next one. im assuming it shorted when i was moving between rooms (so it was shorted for closer to 10 minutes), otherwise id probably be dead.

anyways. there were actually burn marks through some pieces of paper that were touching it

Ok i'm new to this whole make your own portable thing i have seen some of people work looked a few of the guides. I was browsing throught forums and bout a month ago guys were talking Lithium Polymer battaries and how effictive they are. This looks like a very nice way to power a portable (in particular, the one I'm currently designing), but it looks a little scammy. Has anyone confirmed that these aren't too good to be true, or should I just go with some NiMH AAs from a trusted company?

i dont see whats so "scammy" about it. although i do admit that that particular site looks a little shady. there are other sites that will sell you batteries for similar prices.
