Need 6VDC Adapter @ RadioShack!

Post by vb_master »

I just built this kit and it states that I need a 6VDC power supply. I need some help finding a power adapter. I searched on RadioShack.com, and I found this. Will that work, and not fry my kit? If it will fry my kit, which adapter should I choose?

That looks like it should be fine, but to make sure if you go into radioshack they will most likely allow you to test their ac/dc adaptors to see if it works.

EDIT: On the website they have a link to a dc adaptor for your kit here

It really depends on how much current the circuit draws and how tight the voltage tolerance is. If it draws a little under 300 mA it should work, but if it draws a lot less than 300 mA, then you may get too much voltage out of that adapter. Try hooking it up to 4 AA batteries and measuring the current that it draws.

Just tried with 4AA's. Worked! Gonna buy a 4AA holder and 8 ohm speaker. Will post pic/vid on request :) .
