Did i fry my hip gear, yay or nay

i just put it in my case and removed the 7808. stupid me decided to plug in the wall adapter again. i dont know if i fried it though. wouldnt the backlight have at least gone on if i had power going through the screen pad? i wonder if you think the audio board is fried or not?
EDIT: ok i know the screen isnt fried the backlight is going on but do you think i fried the audio amp is there any signal i should be looking for or would anyone have any extra hipgear scraps with the audio amp i could have, im gonna try hooking something up to it tommorrow but for now its time for me to rest up

what's the rating of the wall adapter? (volts, amps, etc...)

i dont think i fried the amp i just think its not getting enough power or something odd like that because i am getting sound but you cant hear it unless you are right next to the speaker

the wall adapter is
outputr 4.5 volts

i thought hipgears took 12 or something like that

EDIT you think if i ran it off batteries it would go away?
