PS2 portable!!

Yeah, first here (on this thread at least)
Any how, I reduce the thickness of my ps2 to around 1 inch.
The nice part is that it still has a usb port, I don't think I'm going to be using firewire, so I'll probably not keep the port.

the firwire port is used for link play between two PS2 systems. if you do not plan on ever doing that then removing the firwire port would work

Ok, here a a couple of images of my ps2 right now.
I removed the usb port I had on before, and I'm going to replace it with a usb header board for a computer.
Overall it's around 1.5 inches thick. I'm hoping to be able to cut that down a little by modding the dvd drive. That way I'll have more room for the screen, although, if I do make it load like the ps1, I'll probably change the design, allthough I'm trying to keep the heatsink away from the controller area.

How long does your PS2 portable last, running off of those 2 RC car battery packs?

Let's see, I would say that it should last 1 1/2 to 2 hours if I'm lucky.
What I want to do is get enough battery life with the screen to be able to watch a movie with it, but then I'll need larger batteries.

make it load PSp style with the cd clip thing. because tray drives dont work well when being moved around

The PS2 doesn't have clips on the spindle to hold the CD in position. I think that feature was exclusive to the PSOne.

Yeah, but I could replace the spindle part with one from my broken cd player.
I did that to fix my friends playstation once and it worked fine, so I don't see why not.

And since I'll be using a different case, I think I'd rather build my own.

hmmmm..... expected dimensions are H=10.5", W=6", and D=1.5-2"

I'll be using the normal heatsinks w/o the shielding, and I made the dvd drive as small as possible.
One thing that I have to do is get new ribbon cables for the dvd drive and controller port, right now they just aren't long enough.

well, I got tired of trying to fix my ps2 mb, so I bought another ps2 off of ebay. I got it for around $53 after shipping. All that's wrong with it is the cd tray and the case is in bad condition. Luckily in my portable I won't be using either of those, so it doesn't really effect me.
Now all that I'm wondering is what version mb it has. If it's a V3 that's great, if it's a V4 that's also great. Any other version isn't bad, but either of those two would be the best.
