Well I'm finally getting remotely close to finishing my portable N64 so I thought I'd post a few in-progress pics!

Thanks! The only remaining hurdle is the joystick :-) I need to get it connected because its wire won't reach the controller board in its current location

It is pretty top heavy, more than I would have liked, but the battery pack goes right under the controls.

Erm....what is with the Intel chip?

Is it a Pentium 1, or an Overdrive? I can't read the label from that pic, but it doesn't look like it says "Pentium"...

Edit: Oh, now I see...it's one of those older Heatsinks with the flat printed top...that can take away from the cooling ability of the heatsink, you know...
Warranty-Voiding fun!

All it's cooling is the voltage regulator so I think it will be fine  I was too cheap to buy a large heatsink so I just tapped this old intel one.

Hey, someone's back! :)

You can cut rewire the ananlog stick prtty easily. I've done it 4 times, its pretty easy and it only takes 5 minutes.

If you ahve trouble wiht the voltage regulator overheating (THATS ALL THAT EVER HAPNES WITH THE 5 DIFFERNETN ONES I BOUGHT!) then you might want to get a free DC-DC converter (you cna see it pretty easily in the N64 forum). They are more energy efficent so more play time.

If you wanted to move the controller baord, you can cut off the C, B, A part of the board and rewire the traces back to the controler voard. It's kinda tricky, but with a steady dremel and soldering hand, it can be done in about 15 minutes.

Haha I think the problem with the analog stick is not so much that a rewired it, but that i had to dremel part of the side off to make it fit

sorry to be a portable pooper(eewww) but as this has been said before, the controlls are too low, I made that same mistake with the first revision of my mpsone and it was very uncomfortable to play for very long periods of time. but on a positive note it looks really good and looks like you have made good progress. I salute you

as in the words of ben the wise :D , " Holy cow on a popsicle stick" that thing is huge, wut are its dimensions? Why don't you try making the case a tiny bit smaller...
The only reason I bought an XBOX instead of a gamecube was because of the crappy zelda graphics. Now getting a rev because of Zelda graphics with no HD...irony: I think so!

looks pretty good, though as said before, those controls are really low....as long as you have the battery down there, though, and play mostly lying down or at a table, it should be fine :). good luck on finishing it.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
