Damn thee, stripped phillips screws!

I was disassembling my father's old Thinkpad to see if I could salvage the hard drive so I could attach it to an external USB-ATA connector. But, while doing this, I sorta kinda noticed that I had a 15" LCD screen that nobody used sitting right in front of me. So I decided to take it off. Inside, there was just a plug that went into the mobo, and two screws that held the ribbon cable to the case. I got one of the screws off, and..... Well, I stripped the other. God damnit. So close to a 15" LCD! Noooooooo!

So, any ideas on how to.... you know..... Get rid of a stripped Phillips screwhead? Or am I just screwed (pun intended)?

There is a tool, I think you can find it at SEARS, its like a combo screw driver and drill. That might work for you.
The other option is grab a dremel, and cut a notch and use a flat head screw driver.

Hmm I have no idea how to get rid of the screw but what do you intend to use the screen for? It will only work in that laptop because the screens controler board is built into the laptops motherboard. You can get external ones but they run about $300-$400 depending on the model.

Sorry if this dashes your dreams of w/e you were trying to do with it.

Radon, that might be true, but I'm not sure. There's the same amount of pins in the VGA slot on the laptop as there are lines of substrate on the ribbon cable. >_>

get a pair of gas pliars, they're specifically made to remove stripped screws, and you don't have to worry about drilling anything

Sweet! The dremel idea worked!

It has a 15 pin connector, so I'm guessing that it uses standard VGA signalling. Wewt!
