Self inflicted injuries

Post by sam »

One of the worst ones I have had;

I was about 7, up at my cottage, has a nice porch huge railing, I thought It would be cool to climb, pretty much 2 meters, Needless to say Wind + Me in a high place = me on my ass on the ground. I had blacked out, for 2 minutes I was barely breathing and the eyes rolled into the back of my head. This by far has had the worst long term effects on me.

9 years after that, all 9 years, I have passed out whenever I experiance pain greater than average. (Talk about the f' in suck eh?)

Another, I play lacrosse (Box; Goalie) Basically whatever you can imagine about getting hit with a ball at 90kph is what happened to me, I have had 2 masks broken, a couple low end concusions, balls feel like they would never return from up inside me. So, after a game, I was playing with my friend, mask off I chased him down, then I sliped on a wet spot and smaked my head off the ground, woke up in a daze and couldnt remember anything for about a minute (like who I was who my friend was etc.) Ill add more later.

Name a couple of yours.
I'm the man, if you don't think so, you're wrong.

I swim, its kind of hard to hurt yourself badly in swimming, other than shoulder/knee problems, which are kind of few and far between.
I've never had an injury worth mentioning.

I woke up with a sore neck, walked downstairs to greet relatives, and spontaneously lost consciousness for what could have been either a few seconds or a few minutes. Relatively minor, besides not having any clue why it happened, and freakin out the relatives. :?

I was also in swimming, my specialty was the backstroke. When doing the backstroke you can't really see when you are getting close to the wall, so you have a point that you are supposed to know how many strokes past that point you need to go before performing your turn. Well, durring one practice, I was a bit distracted, I don't remember what I was thinking about, but I forgot to start counting strokes. I hit the wall head first, going at full speed. The athletics doctor looked me over and said I had a concussion and had to stop swimming for the day.

Stupidly, instead of going home, I went to work. When it was time for my to go home I was feeling a bit dizzy and decided that I probably shouldn't walk home (I only lived about a half mile from work, so I usually walked.) My dad came and picked me up. My parents thought I was stupid for not letting them know right away when I got the concussion and also for going to work.

When I was secen I was riding my bike into the parking lot of the church across the street from my house. Whell they had a speed bump and I didnt handle it well. Lost my balance and fell, hitting my head and passing out for who knows how long. For the next week or so I had a scab that went from where my right eye-brow is down the side of my face. The only lasting thing I have from that is that my right eye-brow is split half way through.

Another is I was doing my paper route one day and well... best way to describle it is that I (again) lost my balance when I was leaving the portch. Fell about 3 feet on to the drive way. Broke my left are, one bone was fractured the other was a clean break.

Course I've had more head injuries but not all self inflicted.

When I was a freshman in high school, my picketknife slipped and I stabbed myself in the hand. Not pretty, and it looked like I cut a nerve, but the freaky thing is that my hand works just as well as ever. Meh, must not have been anything important. I still tave the scar on the lower side of my hand, though, just a couple centimeters above my wrist.

I've also shocked and burned myself numerous times, but so do many other electronics people.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

My friend Dan managed to stab himself in the foot right before we were all gonna go up to London to go skate, we went anyway, made a make-shift bandage out of tissues and duct tape, it really can fix anything

I drove my bike into a car (see earlier post). Amazingly, I was out of the hospital like an hour after I got there, and my bike was pretty much ok.

So I had jsut bought this really nice trick bike right. Well about 10 minutes after I had gotten it home I decided I would attempt an endo on the front wheel. (If you have ridden a bike with good brakes before you prolly know where this is gonna go). I was used to crappy brakes, so I pulled on the front brake HARD.... And I flipped my body completely over the bike, landed on my back (had a helmet on, thank goodness), than of course the bike landed on top of me. That was nice....

Playing hide and seek one time (Zack knows this one I think). And it was dark. I was running full speed away from somone, adn jsut happened to forget that there was a 3-4 foot bush on the corner.... Hit it full speed (never even saw it) and went flying... Then my bro comes as I am gasping for air (got the breath knowcked out of me among other things) and starts poking me with his foot saying "You're fakin, I'm not stupid". Well he was stupid.

Then thers plenty of bike wrecks, jumping, etc. but they aren't very funny.

not many but a few, one time i got really ticked off at this one kid at school, he threw my backpack across the locker room and i lost my temper and open fist punched a locker so hard i fractured a bone in my hand, another time i was riding my old bike that had just a backpedal brake, was goin downhill and slammed the brakes and went right over then handlebars, it was a gravel road! still have the scar on my arm where i skidded across the ground. i have also accidentally stabbed myself with xacto knives a few times, once pretty deep, mebe 1/8 of an inch right into my thumb.
