Modern consoles dont have multiple boards. If you want to make a Jamma board style controller you'll have to cut the board up and solder on new contacts. I dont doubt the Xbox would recognize a USB controller , if it did Lik-sing has a USB Jamma board.

Good luck on the choice you make.

xbox can accept a usb controller/keboard/mouse......but only if it has drivers....which means you need either a softmod or hardmod on your xbox.....only some can work plug-n-play.

I wasnt asking about consoles with multiple boards, i was asking about controllers for xbox with a circuit processor board and a seperate board with the connecting traces for buttons, like in a PlayStation dual shock contoller. So are there any out there?

they WERE talking about controllers :P...(er, I think). anyway, I'd suggest getting one of those tiny XBOX controllers and just wiring to the traces...
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Because i want to hack a controller for a full size arcade cabinet control panel, not just have a panel to hold. But that would be a good idea.

not really the standard one does just fine.
but I don't know about the mouse support. The xbox controller standard is just modified usb, and it takes my wireless keyboard without issue. I would try the mouse, but then I'd need a desk, and then it wouldn't be much of a "game console" anymore.

but back on topic, what's the problem with cutting the board up?

Either buy an X-Arcade or just use an S-Controller.
