like most in countries in the world today, there is a large amount of animocity towards america going around in canada. not always ameriCANS, but sometimes it sort of spills over. unfortunately, you have a rather moronic leader representing you, and you get stereotyped based on that. the fact that greenday had a hit song called "american idiot" probably didnt help things.

there are still plenty of people who do not comment on the issue, and just as many who like america.

Yes. Well, at leats people around here. We generally don't make fun of America MUCH though. Just offhand comments about stupid things (Like the 'Holiday Tree' or that 'Intelligent Design' thing)
