I'm pretty much looking to emulate at the most the PS1, Saturn, and 3DO. What I'm going to try to do is make an all-purpose MAME cabinet that will run early 3D consoles and below. As for software, I would really like to not run windows, but don't know much about Linux emulation. I'm sure it is probably very good, my only fear is that some rare Windows emus may not have a linux counterpart at all (3DO, PC88). If linux can offer great emus for everything windows does I'll take it. Also, i was thinking of running the regularo OS and just set it to start a .exe that is my arcade program that will pretty much be a menu that would guide you to what emus you wanted to use.

You can probably pull it off with a cheap 128 from ATi.

this will work:
Processor: 2.0 GHz
RAM: 512 MB
Hard Drive: 160 GB 7200 rpm
Graffics card: Nvidia Gforce 6800 256 MB
As for emulators:
PSX: ePSXe
N64: Project 64 version 1.6 or whatever is the latest and with the latest plugins available
GBA: VBA (Visual Boy Advance)
You get the point...........there are many others, but i have listed the best i know of.............The proccessor should be atleast 1.6 Ghz!

Those specs are just a little bit under my home computer, Harshboy :P . I think that I will be able to pull off what I want easily with 256 MB of ram, 1+ GHZ CPU (depends on the deals at newegg), a decent 128 AGP card, and a 40+ GB HDD (HDDs are cheap, though and always on sale so I will probably spring for a 120+ GB ). Also, can anyone point me in the right direction for a menu? I'm sure it has been done with other cabinets. I could do it in Visual Basic but i don't know how professional that would look.

I used MAMEWah. (I think that's the capitalization) Once you figure out how it works, it's really easy to configure :)

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

Kymaera Frontend is what I use. It gives you a lot of options. MameWah and LemonLoader are also good.
