GP2X or Tapwave Zodiac?

Post by electromaster64 »

Now that the Tapwave Zodiac is under $200 (I found one new on eBay for $150) I am thinking about getting one. The GP2X is also under $200 and it looks awesome too and will hopefully have good emulators, especialy if a PSX one is in the works. I want a PDA like device, which the Zodiac is a PDA, but since it has been discontinued I am leaning more towards the GP2X in hopes of someone porting Palm OS to it or something.

If you have either of these systems what would your recommendation be?

I'm definitely getting a GP2X within the next 2-3 months. Im getting a 20GB Creative MP3 player for christmas, but if the GP2X were more complete with its software, I'd have gone with that instead.

I'm surprised many people at these forums actually like the gp2x, I guess I thought that you guys were against emulators and more towards the real deal hardware :P It's good to know a lot of people are interested in it. I myself want to get one to  Do you guys know if ben is for or against the gp2x? I'm curious to know, since I don't think he enjoys emulators as much as the real deal :)

Well I don't think Ben is against emulation but he is more toward the "real deal" hardware. He said if it's the only way you can do enjoy old games go for it. Remember emulation is like masterbation.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

emulation? Sure emus are nice but that's just one of the GP2X's features. There's nothing "not the real deal" about an open source linux-based system.

as for zodiac, it had problems back when it was supported. Now it's dead. I can't even imagine its problems. why is it even an option? If you're going for a complete collection, wait a year until everybody forgets them and they start ebaying for $50.

I suppose for palm nuts it's the only choice, but I can't name too many useful features that it had that GP2x lacks--1. touch screen, 2. ... ...
