Im leaving, but not because I want to

Post by Mr. Cool »

My parents are making me not go to this sight anymore. Aparently they didnt get the idea of forum, and thought there was just one person that I was talking to, and he was giving me all the answers to my questions  . They now call this a chat room, which they banned, and think Im going to get abducted, or run away to europe with a crazy person like a girl they know. I will come on when they are not home, but have to be very careful. Im getting a psp for christmas, and a wifi router, so can I post on benheck form there?
So unfortunatly, from now until christmas or later my posting will be maybe once a week
Goodbye all, hopefully Ill be back soon.

I'm sorry to hear that Mr. Cool, parents can be so ignorant. But to answer your question yes you can come to this site on a psp. It may take a while to type and what not but other than that it's fine. You just need firmware version 1.5.

:(

Just explain to them how this is not a chat room. You are not talking to one person directly; your questions are out in the open where anyone can answer them. Plus there is a group of responsible individuals who enforce the rules. Maybe print out a copy of the rules for them, to show them what we don't allow here (basically everything the sick copulates on AIM do is disallowed.) Also demonstrate the language filter, and show thgem that most of the moderators/admins are between 17 and 30.

But hey there's always school and the library... ;)
EDIT: And turn your email button on next time you log in! :P

Wow...I really feel for you. Is there any way you can better explain to them what happens here? Try to sit them down with you next to the computer so they can see exactly what happens here and how this isn't a chat room. Either way, be careful, and take care of yourself.

You're more at risk if you're talking to one person, than you are in a community. If somebody on the street asks you directions, and you tell them, do they look you in your house? As long as you aren't telling people your address, you're actually more safe here, because somebody in your neighbourhood could be watching you when you're walking down the street. The most we know about you is how old you are.

Why can't parents take the time to figure out what the hell they are even talking about. It would take like what, 30 seconds to see the forums and figure out that there is no chat.

Hope you can get that PSP surfing. Typing is gonna be next to impossible.

Seriously. When people actually run away form home or stuff ike that to meet someone, I think that they're kinda copulate up already. I don't mind talking to people online, but I'll stick ith my real life friends.

People only get abducted when they have no idea what their doing. Listen to the bloody warnings on MSN or AIM. It says "don't give out any personal information" for a reason. Internet chats are perfectly safe as long as you don't agree to a "secret" meeting with some person you just met...

I can understand how parents would flip out a bit over weird online people talking to little boys. And on a site named for one person, they may have the impression that all of us are just artificial characters, or the collection of little boys he's enticing, skinning and stuffing (sorry site admin). Reason will eventually work itself into them, because nobody that spends hundreds of hours working on elaborate electronics projects has enough time left over to skin children, a process which I've heard takes quite some time.

As a kid I used to spend a lot of time on an 'occult themed' webchat. It was actually pretty similar to a forum, but posts expired after 5 min. Great people, but I respect that much that went on there was creepy, wrong or illegal. Here nothing gets past mildly dangerous or disturbing
