Interact PS1 screen video problems.

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Interact PS1 screen video problems.

Post by Kurt_ »

First off I'd like to say that the screen has no had anything doen to it other than the fact that it's taken apart.

I tested it yesterday, before I took it apart, and it worked fine.

I tried it today, after it was gutted, and it didn't work at all.
I have sound, and the little red ON light goes on.

But I don't get ANY video. The screen just stays black.

I guess I should note that the CRT connections (both of them) broke.

Other than that I don't notice anything wrong.

Please help.

First off CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube, for old style monitors. (and tvs)

Did you mean the backlight CCFL? Well, if that came unplugged then you'll have a hard time seeing the screen! The screen isn't made to be seen unless the backlight is turned on.

Do you get anything when you use the brightness/volume buttons?

It's not an official screen.

They're dials, and nothing happened even when it worked.

I'll try shining a light from the back.

I'll let you know what happened in a bit, right now I want to play some syphon filter before I post the PS1 on ebay.

(anybody want a ps1?)

Well, it's not that I just can't see it well with the backlight gone.
There's no video.
I should probably mention that before it went out there were some white lines and some red lines or something that wiggled on and of, like a loose connection somewhere...

Any suggestions?

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Well I don't know what I did, but now it works.
But when I think about it, when I tried it this time, I had the screen OUTSIDE of the case, so light could get through it.

I could see how, if it was just a lack of a backlight, that I could have thought the screen was not working.
