PS2P

Post by Beware of Guard Metroid »

I don't know if anyone has thought to do this but i was struck by inspiration. Everyone knows the slimline PS2 is amazingly small, right? Well why hasn't someone mounted an LCD onto it and integrated a split controller? It would be pretty small and could be dont with almost all the original casing. the rumble may need to be dropped, but its a small price to pay and the battery would add thickness, but it would still be pretty small and pretty cool. Maybe I'm over simplyfying this, so if I am just say so.
Metroid fan. Need I say more?~~ ____

portables

Post by everchangingone »

i read what was at the site, but it isnt very portable if you still have to plug it in. i am getting ready to undertake a pstwo portable project that is completely portable, and supports 2 player.

i am hoping to use a 7.2" screen, integrate the controller, integrate a hd, ditch the modem, still have a/v out, have integrated speaker with headphone jack, and the kicker is that it will have a permanent second player controller as well. i am gonna make the second player controller have a screen of its own as well as the controller, this way you can take it on a bus or plane or train, go sit in the park or whatever and play two player with out having both people crowded around the same screen. they could two player the game or both watch the same movie. if anybody wants to contribute some ideas for stuff that i could use, please do so. i am trying to figure out what battery to use, what screen to use, etc.

i am wanting the hd so that i dont have to carry discs around with me, but it isnt so important overall.
They said it couldn't be done, I'll show them. I'll do it my way and it WILL BE DONE!!!!

ps2p

i'm not too worried about the size. my goal when making it is to not increas the width and hight, but more that 1 inch depth. i have a pretty good i dea of how i will do it, but it depends on the hd. i dont really want to do any more soldering than i have to so i was thinking about running usbextreme for the harddrive, and having a little 2.5 hd on a 3.5 adapter through the usb. (external usb hd box, 3.5 to 2.5 adapter, all hacked and put into the ps2p)the biggest obstacles for me right now in the design is more of what batteryto use. i was thinking of (depending on the weight distribution with all the above, on maybe using one of those slide in laptop batteries. not sure. one idea i had for the hd was to make a custom case for the hd, still running through the adapters through the usb, but make it detachable, in such way that it would go on kind of like the vertical stand for the pstwo does. have 2 screws that hold it to the system. and a plug for the usb and power.
