What is a Hip Screen?

Exactly what the subject says. I have first heard about it here and I want to know what is special about it, and if its cheaper.

It's cheap and runs off of a 7808 from what I've heard.

Its 2.6", it is cheap I bought mine for $30 (includeing tax). There are draw backs to it. I know fom looking it it uses a 7808 voltage regulator and so you need at least 10v or replace it with an LDO and put it 9v. To my knowlege it only accempts composite too, but I havent dived too deep yet.

is there any place where I can buy just the screen?

How much do they cost? I have seen them for 28 USD on ebay but is there any other place they might be cheaper?

The AC adapter outputs 12v at 500mA, like I said above you can put in as little as 10v (with the 7808 still) and 500mA isnt that much but I dount it uses all that.

Does it have sound? Has anyone seen the inside? Does it have A/V input plugs like on vcrs and tvs? What are the dimensions of the screen and the stereo, with and without the case.

Sweet Jesus do you read?!

Here I go again. Yes it has two speaker (supports sterio), Yes mine is in my basment with the back off, no it connect to the system using the plug as the a/v cables, the screen is 2.6" diaginal the speakers are about 1 in diameter the case makes the screen cover almost the whole thing but not the palm grips (the part where the rumble motors are).

Where is a website for the hip gear screen. When I went to the hip gear site, it had no info on screens.

You might be able to run the screen off a lot lower voltage. I had a third party PSOne screen that said it ran off 12v but without the backlight it ran off as little as 5v. for a backlight I used a Christmas light. But I would think that a 2.6" screen could run on at least 5v. It has a cold cathode tube backlight right?
