broken 64 help

well a kid at my bus stop gave me a n64. it turns on but i cant get video on the tv or a portable gc screen.so im not so shure whats not working

im looking at the back in the spot were you plug in the video and sound cord and the pins in it look weird come are up higer and some are lower is this the problem

if youre planning to take it apart eventually anways, just bust it open and solder some wires directly to the right pins (dont even think of asking for a pinout diagram, there must be 30 of them on the forums already). if the video still dosent work... there might be a reason that he just gave it to you

Why do you think NiCd cells are bad? They were used for decades before NiMH;

they're not as good as nimh or other battery types, but they're cheap and somewhat effective

If he got them used, there's probably a reason for it.

Like, NO CHARGE or something.

memory is a myth.

it happened to early us military sattelites that were subject to precise charge/discharge cycles as they orbited the earth.

what most people call "memory" is actually voltage depression. bascially, its when you treat your batteries like crap, and then they dont work as well. duh. common sense. a lot of old nicd chargers had no sensor to cut off the charging when it was done. and as a result they got overcharged and lost capacity... i have a good link to a site that explains it much better, but its at home and im at school.
