How thin can you make a gamecube?

How thin can you make a gamecube with everything in a pile? I'm probably going to try my hand at making the smallest possible gamecube portable. It will have a Hip screen because it isn't too big. I think I will use one of those gamecube batteries because I can get one for 15 bux.

well, the thinnest you can get the mobo is about 3/4 of an inch. add on the disc drive and that's about 1.75 inches right there. plus the battery (which is nicad) it'll end up being either thicker or just wider/taller. either way, it'll be tough

that is, unless you can either make an extension cable for between the laser and mobo or resolder the connection.

You could get a flat DVD player battery, mine has two long, flat li-ion prismatic cells taht are only about 0.2" thick.

If you put the battery on the side instead of the back, it might not add thickness to the g-cube that is, only if the thickness is bigger than the battery. OR... make it like the Xbox 360 where they say the console design "breaths" you know... 1 part thick one part thin...
