oh yeah, and is it just me or does anyone else think it's odd that companies are labeling comics as "graphic novels" now to main stream them and get away from the social stigmata of comics being "geeky" and only for kids

I own ca. 200 mangas GTO, Love Hina, Full Metal Panic I like most
I also own a few animes on dvd

Yeah I think the only thing that make a graphic novel is that its about 1/2 thick or more. A typical comic books is what maybe 30 pages. I personally never got into the comic book thing, but then again I was most interested in them when the crash came. I'm more interested in graphic novels because they're more to read and are not as easily damaged.

GTO is awesome. I'm too cheap for mangas, ~10 dollars an issue stretches my budget, I download some...stuff...legally...I have the first GTO volume, but that's it. Akira is a good one, although I've only seen the first issue.
