When or how did you find out Santa doesnt exist?

The actual santa that we see is the commercial santa, you know with all the reindeer, elfs, toy shops, songs. There was a person that was santa esc. he'd bring presents to good boys and girls. But he was mortal, sooo...he died. Poor santa esc. man.

is it true that in russia, santa is a guy with claws that kills bad kids? i heard about that somewhere, i forgot where. luckily i still have teenage mutant ninja turtles, they rock
