well, it all depends on the games IMHO, and if Nintendo keeps third party developers in mind. if they make a normal controller attachment (that still has motion sensing capabilities, obviously), then it'll draw in gamers who are used to the normal style controller.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

what i think they should do (if they must keep the motion sensor) is make it like an N64 controller but with remote in the middle and analog stick on the left

I still hold to the killing blow the 360's troubles will deal to MS's gameing department. In turn, then, I also hold to my idea that people won't respond well to this new turn up. Especially if the media decides to chew on it.

I've begun to see that people might like the Rev. Yeah it's funky, and un-orthodox, but then again, change is naural. And I'm not just saying that. I believe more gamers will be willing to accept change rather than stick to the old gaming ways. People like to shake it up. DDR did better than most expected. Even Sony jumped on it.

The key, then, will be the PS3. If it's a quality product with a solid line-up and enough features to counter what I suspect will be a nasty price, then the Rev may not do as well. If it ain't, then I really think the Rev might surface above the other two consoles.

Bottom line: I think the game belongs to either Sony or Nintendo (and I'm leaning to Nintendo). MS is out for now, and maybe for good.

Peace and "What about a next gen handheld?"

As Luc said, change is natural, The Revolution is this years contrabution to advancing technology.

I mean we can't use controlers forever. Eventuly games are gonna look so good that no ones gonna want to stand around and watch the action, they want to become part of the action. Not all gamers at overweight slobs who spend hours on the couch or nerds with glasses the size of car headlights. Gamers are getting more and more active and healthy with what they do. If someone gave me the option to sit there and press button combinations to do a sword fight, or to get up and act out a sword fight as if it looked like it was real. I would take the get up and kick ass sword fight any day. Things always feel better when you do them yourself.

Mind you, I don't personally advocate this change. I think it's a load of crap. But I don't doubt people might attatch to it.

Yes but remember thehardware doesn't make the system (unless its a PC) the games do. Remember the PS2 is the weakest of all three of the consoles and its the best selling one of the three.

yup, it all comes down to games......of course, other factors play a large part in making games more enjoyable (like graphics/how you control it)

True. Sony already broke ONE gaming rule:

1) No company has had the #1 console 2 generations in a row.

PS1/PS2 shattered that.

Now they'd have to break another if PS3 is to be "top dog" once again:

2) The most powerful console of a generation is never the top seller.

Since the dawn of gaming the weaker system of a generation always outsells the more powerful ones...

Atari beats Coleco and Intellivision

NES beats SMS

Genesis beats SNES (and it did, as far as a lot of us are concerned)

PS1 beat N64

PS2 beat Xbox and Gamecube.

But again, Sony's already beaten one "gaming mantra", why not beat another?

yeah, they'd have to REALLY work to get ahead in this console war. they'll need a good price on their system first, a decent amount of good launch titles, and enough consoles made to get one to everyone who wants one in a few weeks. also, if there are any problems with overheating that'll screw 'em up.

I'm hoping the ps3 or rev will win I have an xbox but I am not impressed by the 360. I hope sony redesigns that ugly ass controler though.

I went back to Ben's first post in this thread. I then read the entire thread. Next I read his last three prediction essays. I came to a conclusion:

This is the screwiest, weirdest, most unpredictable market in the whole freakity world!!!
We're nuts to be trying to guess what it'll do!!!

That said, I stand by my earlier statements.

Peace and "Hear that? Those are brain cells dying!"
