 :?

Did you try typing "mspaint" or "pbrush" into the Task Manager or the Run... command?

"or something" can also be word. you can paste your printscreen request into there. If I recall there's even a really annoying editor in there too.

what the heck computer blocks paint usage?

I've got another idea:

Do you have the Windows Install CDs? If you do, search them for these files:

PBRUSH.EX_
MSPAINT.EX_
PAINT.EX_

If you find them, drag a copy onto your Desktop and rename the .EX_ to .EXE and it should run.

I thinkit may be blocked because Paint's exe file is in the Windows System folders, which many "mickey-mouser" programs block access to.

If that doesn't work, paste the mage into Word or some other program like that; you'll be able to store them there until you can get to a PC with Paint. And once you get to one, copy the paint exe file onto a floppy, and grab Notepad while you're at it. I don't know what I'd do with a system that doesn't have a plain text editor on it! They're indispensable, and can be used for millions of uses. They're the Duct Tape of the computer!

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

IIRC those files were compressed with a simple scheme Microsoft's installer. I'll confirm that sometime.

You could look in the CAB files here:
C:\Windows\Options\Cabs
And browse through the cab files until you find the exe, then copy the EXE out and RENAME the exe.
