i have a major problem with my screen

i have a major problem with my screen
the audio of my psone screen wont work. i have the official psone screen and this has happened with both screens of mine. does this happen with anyone else? by the way, i have it wired to a 12v line using a resistor to lower it down to 7.2v, could this have anything to do with it?
what portable are you making?

What size resistor (value and power rating) are you using to lower the voltage and how much current is your power supply rated for? Is the board with the screen's inputs (power, the psone multi out jacks, and more importantly the headphone jack) still connected? If not, then you need to find the 3 consecutive pads on the control board labeled HP_L, HPS, and HP_R and short them together.

yeah at first i tried putting the headphone jack on (found out it was loose) but the sound didnt work, im using the official n64 power pack. the resistor is a 10 ohm the background color is beige and the last band is gold. its been a while since i soldered everything on there. the audio used to work though.

If the headphone jack isn't there any more, then you need to short those 3 pins together (the headphone jack on the screen has a built in switch that disconnects when you plug in headphones, in order to turn off the speakers).
Have you checked the voltage going into the screen while the power is on? To me it doesn't seem like 10 ohms would work properly...it would either lower the voltage way too much (if you are using the backlight) or not enough (without it). Also, it sounds like you're using a normal 1/4 watt resistor, and at the very least the screen draws around 1.25 watts (without the backlight plugged in). Is the resistor hot to touch when the screen is turned on? If so, you need to get something bigger so that it can handle the power dissipation.

hmmm....surprised no one's mentioned it yet
.....it could be a fried component or something on the lcd board. trace each audio line to the first component (resistor, maybe, I forget
) and short that out. if that doesn't work, then it's probably a different problem, but I'd suggest shorting out the cap. after the resistor. it'll lower the sound quality if that works, but you'll at least know what's wrong.

dude, resistors are NOT what you should be using to regulate power. voltage is coupled to current using the equation V=IR. (i hope you already know this). youre setting it up so that the voltage changes with the current (and vice versa), which, in geneeral, is bad.
get a regulator from radio shack, or a dc-dc ('64 forum)
