Product recomendations

Just thought that it might be nice to have a place to recomend different
products to help make portablizing an all around better experience. Also I was wondering if anyone has this or would recomend it.

I was looking at it and its pretty cheap. Plus it comes with a free wire stripper (I already have that one though, I would not recomend it)

If you're stupid enough to touch the tip of a soldering iron, expecting not to be burned, maybe you shouldn't be soldering at all.

well not just that feature, Im not one of the many people who posted injuries requesting help (And there have been some entertaining ones) But i need a better soldering iron and i was wondering if it would be a good way to go.

(By the way, dont be a jerk about it mmmk?)

That was directed at everybody, I guess you could buy it if you're not as careful as others. The only good thing I see about the iron is the battery power, one less wire to worry about.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

YOU CANT SOLDER PROPERLY! THE LITTLE GAP IN THE NIB HAS TO BE JOINED TO MADE HEAT

i was uding my bros and the tip cracked off. so you cant use it now!

Yeah, I have one. The batteries have to be brand new, and it works alrgiht for a few minutes of soldering. Then it just doesn't have the oomph.

The tip is graphite and you WILL end up chipping parts of it off, making it pretty much impossible to solder with.

You may want to try it, but for me it was a waste of $20.

Yeah I thought these thiungs were a bad idea for electronic soldering. They don't heat up right and the point soldered is crappy.

Weller soldering irons beat all others into the dust. You don't even have any idea how much better they are until you use one. Radio Shack irons bow and tremble before Weller irons.

The radioshack one's are all right, but they quickly get clogged with anything. Nevertheless the warm up and cool down time is very tenuous.

i agree, wellers are the own all of solderin irons, i would still be usin mine if the tip wasnt toast

Amen! Wellers > All Other soldering irons

The tip on mine is all oxidized or something like that; there's only a small shiny part on one side. I guess I'll have to get the other tip from the garage...

Yes wellers are the shiznit, They can be on the expensive side though. Cold heat isn't bad I have used one when I used to be in electronics and it worked well but we did have a problem with it once some solder got in between the two points of the tip and then caused it to stay hot so be carefull about that.

I got a piece of wire stuck onto my Cold Heat a while ago, and it stayed on so long the tip actually started to melt

. yeah, those suck. I'd stay away from them, especially if you're portablizing with 'em. get a radioshack one if you're short on cash, and a weller if you've got a bit more money to spend.
