I was reading Ben's page on his PS2p (which looks amazing BTW) and was interested in the battery power. It says he got 1.9A (I'm assuming at 9v, cause thats what the battery is) for the screen and the PSTwo average power. How the hell did he do that? lol. I assume he replaced the fan with one that has a smaller power consumption, but even with that and the psone LED mod it HAS to be more than 1.9A at 9v. I'd love to know how he did this.
You got that backwards 1.9A is what the system consumed, the battery he bought output 9.6v and had 5600mA.

No I didn't. The system (out of the box) does NOT consume 1.9A and I was wondering how Ben got it to consume less. The system consumes 5 amps+ at 7.4v, which is at least 37 watts. Ben somehow got it down to less than 19 watts and I was asking how...
Read the caption between the first and second pictures, or better yet read the last sentance to get right there.

My guess is he just powered it, maybe he replaced the fan or something. If he had done something bigger I'm sure he would have mentioned it. As for the screen I checked the "Project 42" page and he didnt mention if he did the LED mod.

it will usually draw much less than 5a. compare it to the 500w power supply on your computer. that doesn't mean that the computer is drawing 500w (4A*120V), but rather that the system CAN handle up to 500w of draw. hope this helps!
It has to be something bigger. The fan only takes 4-5 watts and even with the LED mod it would be WAY more than 1.9amps. I really need to find out how he did it because it will dramatically increase my PSTwo battery life. The system sucks 5.3amps at 7.5v-8v, which is at least 39.7W. Yet somehow Ben got that cut in half, with 9.6v at 1.9amps=18.24watts. That's a huuuge difference, especially if that powers the screen too. I know there are 2 7805 voltage regulators inside the system....maybe he replaced those with DC-DC converters?
Arg, I really want to know, you think he'd tell me if I emailed him? I don't know how competitive he is about his portables..lol
