Li-Ion battery question

Post by Foxx373 »

please, no half ass or "i think so" answers.

Can Li-IONs be put in parallel SAFELY. I have 2 1100mA/hr batteries for my Pocket PC and i want to make a backpack so I can have the added power for long hauls, or standard power. I rarely work with Li-IONs, all i know about them is technical aspects of how they work and how they are charged.

Most likely, if the protection circuitry inside them has a problem with it (too much current being drawn) then they'll shut down for a while.

If you really want safety for any batteries in parallel you should really add a small 0.1 ohm power resistor on each battery to spread load over each of them.
