DIY Xbox Wireless Headset (Will be Updated!)

Post by S q u e e ! »

Here is my latest project. I decided I didn't want to pay $79+ dollars for the Logitech wireless headset, so I've set out on a quest to build my own. As of 11/22/05, I have cut the headband so it is much more sleek, and still just as functional. Here is a picture of the modified headband by itself:

and on my head:

Next up is making the thing wireless. Any ideas on how to do this, as I'd like to completely finish this project as soon as possible. More updates soon!

you could just get some old wireless headphones, and change the plug and connections or something.

I'm not sure what signal the headset uses, so I'll assume it just uses bidirectional sound signals. If that's the case you just need to pick up 2 rf transceiver ICs and the corresponding parts to make them function. Plus a battery pack for the headset and you should be fine.

The one thing I know is that the headset has a mono audio speaker output and a microphone input. Don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I just want this to be known so I can recieve a more difinitive answer.

yeah, so a standard 2 transceiver setup should work as long as the transceivers have seperate in/out lines (although you may be able to use 2 diodes to seperate a single line's in/out)

New question: does anyone know how many MHz the signal is on the headset? So many possibilities popped up!
