Just got a psp but...................

Okay today I got my psp and gta lcs I went to go play lcs but it says in order to play it I have to update the firmware to 2.00. I dont want to update it to play gta if I don't have to and I don't want to downgrade it later. So My question is Can I play gta without updating it? I am googling this right now. I don't have the usb cable so i can't download anything to it.

Also The psp has a really nice feel and look to it anyone wondering about getting one I would reccomend it. Except for the updating and such it seems pretty good.

There is a firmware faker, but I don't think it supports 2.0 yet.

Maybe Ill just do it and then downgrade it to 1.5 again when I get the usb cable. Or maybe 2.0 will get hacked so i can play emulators on it. What do you guy's reccomend. I think I'll probably just update it.

you have to update although you still get some homebrew so upgrade>play gta>downgrade

its been rumoured that you shouldnt update from the gta disc taht you should use the downloaded eboot...some people say its actually 2.01 not 2.00 on the disc

Crap I already started updating and can't stop it so oh well. What is different about 2.01 anyways will my psp brick if I downgrade it?

its 2.01?

my uk gta uses 2.0 on the disk

and 2.0 can run some homebrew lik pspgenesis but others crash like nester

no i just heard that you might not be able to play homebrew if you use the disc but dont worry itll be fine

They say anything after 2.0 you won't ever be able to play any homebrew, but what they mean is just for a whyle. There are some really smart people out there that will fight Sony with all their might and more than likely win. Remeber this, nothing is ever foolproof

I'm getting my PSP Giga Pack on monday, woot. It's more than likely gonna be 2.01 but I don't mind, all I want to do at the moment is play PSP games. (not to mention my DS can play SNES roms at 100% speed

Yeah I finished updating it and gta lcs is pretty fun. I am going to get a wireless router so I can get some use out of the web browser anyone have any reccomendations for a godd one under 20 bucks. I saw the giga pack but my mom didn't get that It was a gift from her plus she owed me money so that went to the gift the giga pack is a good deal it saves you like $40.
