mini project: universal micro speakers in an altoids case

so i decided to build some of these for no reason...

basically its 2 speakers from a psone screen attached to a headphone jack, if i take the signal with out amplification it isnt loud at all so i need to improve the signal loudiness i need a small amplifier designed to go from headphone jack to louder (the speakers are 8ohm if that matters)...

my question

how so i amplify this signal?

will i be able to run this on 2AAA batteries?

Sounds awesome. You want to create a pre-amp, atleast. I made one of these for my iPod and it works well. Add a potentiometer and use google, she's your friend.

i want to make a mini amp and i have 1 huge transistor and some pots and caps. is there a way to make an amp with those?

A thread about audio amps was posted a while ago. I just finished building an amp in electronics last week, and it worked pretty well considerring I was using crappy parts. If you want, I can see if my friend has his book so he can scan the schematic for me to post.

aarrgghh after 45min of testing speakers i have decided this wont work because i wont be able to get decent sound quality!!! AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!
