PCMCIA Converter

Hey everyone

A little while back (im still waiting for it to come in) I won an old tablet on ebay (I think this is the same one, different specs: http://cgi.ebay.ca/IBM-Thinkpad-Laptop- ... dZViewItem)
It came to about $100CAD+shipping from canada so its not such a bad deal

anyways, the thing looks like I'd have a lot of fun with it. I do a lot of drawings and sketches and I was going to use it for kinda a digital sketch pad for while I'm at school during my breaks. Thing is, its only got 110MB (probably upgrade that later, I've found up to 5GB ones on ebay) on it and the space is on a PCMCIA card that comes with it. It only runs Windows95 (yuk, but I dont need better to draw) so I cant hook up a compact flash or usb port.

My only options I can think of is to put in a network adaptor and send it to my PC that way or to an internet storage place.

Another possibility is that I was wondering if you could find a PCMCIA reader for a PC?? That would be awesome because I wouldnt need to waste the space on the little thing with web browsers etc.

Anybody have any other suggestions?

I know they make PCI cards that let you use PCMCIA cards, but they're about $20. Also, be sure to make sure there are no weird things with your computer. My tablet was very picky about hard drives, and it gets pretty annoying. Also, they make CF/PCMCIA adapters, though the CF media may degrade quicker if you are running a full OS on it.

thats a good idea about the compact flash adapter.. i didnt think that would work with anything before win98.. but that'll be worth a try..
just curious.. what did u mean by this:

I havent got the tablet yet and i dont think theres anything wrong with my pc

well, I have a Ricoh G-1200S. Lovely machine, but a pain in the ass. It requires a signal coming back from the hard drive in order to boot from it, and cannot boot from a CD. Unfortunately, a CF/PCMCIA adapter does not produce this signal, so I'm stuck with the hard drive it came with. Plus, it cannot take large hard drives (forgot the limit, maybe 2GB? )
