PSONE controller-does it work with another LCD panel?

Pardon the noob question, but does the circuit part of the PSONE (i.e. the controller) work with any other LCD panel, such as one salvaged from a notebook PC? As you all know, the LCD panel ribbon cable (30 pin) can be unclamped from the circuit board.

For my education, what signal properties are missing/lacking such that another panel does not work?

Laptop pannels need a special decoder built into the laptop, they are useless without being attatched to their laptop.

You can get a converter to allow you to use laptop screens with normal VGA input (but a PSOne don't use VGA anyways) but these generaly cost anywhere between $300-$500 and more than likely have to be special ordered for another $100.

All in all it's cheaper and easyer to get a PSOne or Intec screen.

I'm not giving up quite so easily...from a German forum, the actual lcd panel is a Samsung LTS500-Q1 though I haven't been able to find a spec sheet and interface info.

If you find another screen with the same pinout and power/signal/voltage requirements and the same resolution (you would probably need a datasheet for the gate driver to check everything), then you might be able to get the control board to work without modification, but the chance of that happening is basically zero.
