400s really, *really* sucked...
I know this is news, since it's been out longer than most people on this forum, but it was the bargain machine. it's also really big inside. 600's are also to be avoided (but avoided less, because it's newer)
I seriously doubt that anybody considering this project would be concerned about the cost of the initial atari. given the cost of the CF drive, monitor, case with custom keyboard. a proper system is very cheap.
I tried a custom keyboard for a DTV and didn't progress much past opening a keyboard up and letting out a very loud and slow 'OMG'.
maybe I'll toss my xegs into the trading post if there's enough interest--it won't be a huge bargain, however--since I'm so attracted to its pastel buttons...

I want to portablize a supercomputer, sadly it takes a little more than hope and dreams to make this happen.

Um, actually, your dream isn't as far off as you think. The CELL processor in the PS3 is considered to be the bottom end of super computer grade. Heck, the PS3 has 2TFlops of power, and it only has 7 of the 8 cores enabled.soundwave wrote:I want to portablize a supercomputer, sadly it takes a little more than hope and dreams to make this happen.
Wait until the CELL, or similar technology, is used in a PC, and it may actually be feasable.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

I was thinking something the size of the GBA SP with like 800 processors, I wont stand for less than like....(sideways
teraflops.

I'm saying that you can dream, but with some things, thats all it is, a dream.

Thats really cool ben. I like the look of the wood grain.
Do you think it would be possible to enable the 8th core? And why didn't sony have it enabled anyways?Um, actually, your dream isn't as far off as you think. I want to see this portable when ts on. Hopefully in the main description, he will put a pic of it when its turned on.

Cool portable, especially the keyboard. That must of been insanley difficult!
I guess to keep it from overheating, so they didn't have to use watercooling on it.xxxeagle wrote:Do you think it would be possible to enable the 8th core? And why didn't sony have it enabled anyways?
