Only 12v?! Didi you look close enough to see that they have 3.3v, 5v and 12v. Also I found out what the blue wire is for, its the power "supply on" connection. If anyone can figure out what the white wire is for tell us.

im guessing for signaling the DVD drive to run a DVD if you have a DVD in side the DRIVE.

the dvd drive is only a problem if you plan on playing orginal games, since only an xbox drive or a hacked samsung pc drive will read em. if you plan on runnign nothing but rips then well you can hook just about any drive. the hard drive is also a bit of a problem, unless youre gonna use a hacked bios. if you want to change the hd to a laptop hd youre gonna have to to get your hd password, use some hd setup tools to properly partition the drive, and then you need to lock it if you plan on using a retail bios. but to do all that you need to either mod the thing or exploit the box. basically, unless youre usign all the original components youre probably gonna end up in some gray area of legality

I'd be willing to bet it ain't easy. You could probably create one out of a laptop. Being as the XBox is so much like a computer.

Good news for those of you that want to make the Xbox portable. This site talks about making an IDE adapter for compact flash card and making the computer think that is the boot disk or HDD. Now I guess all you need is an ITX power supply, and a mod chip you'd have a slitty smaller Xbox.

those compactflash adapters have been around for a while. im pretty sure you need at least 8 gigs for an xbox though and 8 gig cf cards cost waaaay more than buying an xbox. a laptop hard drive would be a way better choice imo. oh and about those mini-itx power supplies, they wont work straight away, some xboxes us an at style connector and some use an atx style and the pinouots arent exactly standard
