3 psp questions

Im getting a psp for christmas, so I want to be sure of a few things.
1. Can you listen to music that on the memory stick, while you play a game?
2. Can you download Quicktime or real player off the internet, so that you can watch movies on the internet?
3. Could I use my school's wifi, or do most schools block people from using their wifi?

1. you can only listen to the games soundtrack unless you use iso's and loaders

2. theres a homebrew app for that

3. if it has no password or you know the password then yes

also try not to buy a psp with firmware above 2.0 or no homebrew..ever! look for a 1.50 (that means homebrew) or 2.0 (you can downgrade for homebrew)

there is a nice site I found. It has a bunch of emulators as well as other apps. And it has ScummVm for PSP so you can play Day of The Tentacle or sam and max

This is my last question. Ill take my other questions to the psp forum. Can you download stuff like Kazaa or freeware off the internet, and store them on the memory stick? (Im pretty sure you cant, just wanted to make sure).
The PSP sure is expensive. My parents were complaining that it was to much, when I told them I wanted to get it, so Now I have to pay for half of it with the $100 I get for christmas from my grandparents. Oh well. Now to decide whether to get a PSP, or Battlefront 2 for my ps2 (with a network adapter. Boy does my life revolve around money... and school... and videogames... and getting a job... and getting a drivers license... and girls.... and thats about it.

No, it's not a computer. You can surf the web, leave it at that. Homebrew can do the rest, but that's not that much (NOT Kazaa, ITS NOT A WINDOWS COMPUTER !!!)

Yeah, I guess I was being a little bit too hopeful on that one. I know tis not really a computer. It would be cool if it kind of was though. What do you mean by not enough support?

I suppose if you tinkered with it long enough you could compile a copy of the Linux kernel onto it then write software that maps the buttons to the mouse, make/get an onscreen keyboard app (or write drivers for a USB keyboard) and install a X11, then a lightweight desktop environment like Fluxbox. then you could run Linux versions of Real Player or Kaaza or something like that.

But that would be a major pain in the butt to install from source.

If you're looking for a pocket appliance that can run emulators and multitask and stuff,save up the money for an oqo palmtop PC. It runs Windows XP and everything, so you'd be all set to run everything up to (probably) N64/PSone on it. (unfortunately it's over 3k USD retail... ) ME WANT OQO!!!!

if you dont plan on much internet usage i would go witht he gp2x, it might have internet someday but dunno, its about ONE BILLION times more user friendly as far as videos/ homebrew and emulation goes. its uber cool and has much better batery life too

bico: waht about the teqit 86? its not as small as the oqo but probably cheaper, and its cool!

I love the oqo. Its so cool, but $3000 is way to much for me. I wish it was like $500 Then I would buy it. I dont really want the psp to be like a PC I was just hopeful. Ohwell, it will still be wicked cool.

I have heard the psp can emulate SNES and NES better than GP2X. If that is what your looking for I mean.

how you hear that from, probably some PSP fanboi, we dont know how well the 2x will do anythnig yet, it has a snes emulator running at about 80% speed FS 1 or so almost A WEEK before it comes out, PWNED! lol only problems in the 2x are firmware related, easy to fix as opposed to dead pixels shoddy controls and a super shiny fingerprint magnet case
