Err...you do know that you can get to the final world in SMB in a matter of 5 minutes, so 53 minutes isn't that impressive. Mine is around 25ish.HotDog-Cart wrote:I've been Gaming since 1992 (i was playing nes when i was 1)
My dad has been Gaming since 1967
I used to be able to beat Mario for Nes, in 35 mins.... Now i can beat it in 53 Mins.... without dieing... still good
Also, if the first console was out in 1972, and the first arcade machine right before that, how was your dad into gaming that long? Did he like develop Spacewar or something?
And one is way too young to pick up a controller...your hands aren't ready to hold it.
PS360Wii Fanboy FTW!

As far as I know.
Nintedo is over 100 year old company. Originally was a card making one, but when they saw the boom of videogames in America they switched over. The Nintedo Entertainment System was designed with with the idea of being cheap and high quanity. The chips, precisly the graphics chip was ordered from a company what was small, the chip was cheap but Nintendo was ordering it in millions, so it worked out.
The Playstation started out as an addon to the SNES, much like the Sega CD. However Nintedo botched the addon doing two things. The first was that Nintedo wanted to have an enclosure for the CDs, to ensure the data was not pirated or stollen. The second was that Nintedo jumped between Phillips and Sony for the partner company to help bring it to life, they ended settling with Sony but do to issues with Nintedo the contract was disolved.
At the end of the deal with Nintedo, Sony desided to skip having help to get into the gaming indestry and went it alone. It isnt know if the design of the original Playstation was used to build Sony's stand-alone console.
For the most part thats all I know. I have bits and pieces over many of the other systems.

I know quite a bit, but my favorite is this.
Pac-Man originally came from Japan. Before they moved it to the US, they changed the name of it from "Puck-man" to "Pac-Man" to prevent vandals from changing the P to an F. Smart move.
Another cool one is:
There is a super secret atari game called G-force. I made it. Before I was born. It owns. Best game ever. It's so good it can't exist in normal space or we would all kill each other for a millisecond of play time. 'Course that's what you would expect from a game named/made by me.

I know quite a bit about gaming from the VCS to the PSX-era systems.
Some of the more interesting trivia:
The Playstation was originally supposed to be a CD drive for the SNES to compete with the Sega CDX
The Sears Video Arcade and Atari VCS systems were electronically identical
Activision was about the only third-party Atari software developer to rise from the ashes of the gaming crash.
The Great Gaming Crash of 1983 was caused, in part, by an overinflated gaming market, back when any Joe Schmoe could churn out lots of crappy VCS titles.
Wario's Woods is the only NES game to sport an ESRB rating, K-A for Kids to Adults (which was replaced by the E rating in IIRC 1997) It was also the last first-party game for the NES.
There was supposed to be a 16 bit cartridge for the NES based off the Hellraiser or Pinhead movies. It would have a lot of its processing power in the cartridge, so it would only use the NES for power, controls, and video.
Apple and Bandai made the 68LC040-processor based Pippin in 1995, but a dearth of games and a high sticker price basically doomed it.

I know lots about systems after 1990, and some before that, but my knowledge of before 1990 in video games ok with a few holes (mostly about computers).

i know some history about the sega flop.
sega was very happy with genesis's success that they made an addon, sega CD. it was a fialure so they ditched it and started working on sega saturn, which was suposed to be the "ultimate 2D videogame system." people were getting tired of genesis so sega tried to satasfy them until saturn came out with sega 32X, which also failed miseribly and got the nickname "SNES adapter" becasue it's graphics were similar to SNES. it and sega CD also got sega a reputation for vaporwear, which later made people think saturn was just another piece of vaporwear. then sega heard about sony's playstation, which had advanced 3D capabilities. they thought it would smash a 2D thing like saturn so they hurried to make a 3D processor in adition to the 2D one it already had. they also hurried to release it a year early to get a head start against playstation. that backfired because 1) it was difficult for game makers to make games for it since it had 2 processors and 2) they were rushed so they didn't have time to make the games any good so saturn was released with hardly any good games. good games came out later, but by then it was too late; sony had already taken over and saturn died so sega ditched it and started working on dreamcast. this time they made it easy to program for, which helped, but they made 2 different mistakes: 1) they realeased it 2 years before PS2. that meant that PS2 had 2 years better technology and was more powerful and stuff so when people heard about it, they forgot about dreamcast and got a PS2 instead. 2) dreamcast could read CD-Rs so people just downloaded roms and stuff, making sega loose a ton of money. after only 2 years, sega ditched dreamcast just like they did with saturn and became a software-only company.
