My PS2p is now functional

Post by benheck »

The extended disc drive access cables work and systems appear to be GO... All I have left is to put a few small heatsink pieces on a few IC's...

It should be no problem to be finished and have the report up by the weekend!

No, it's not been fast at all. I started this project nearly a month ago! It's been quite complex!

Anyway, I've now run it, and walked around playing GTA: Vice City (didn't want to scratch my San Andreas disc, and those are the only 2 PS2 games I have) It certainly does work, and using RGB for the screen makes a very noticle difference.

There's a few "screw issues" to deal with and I seem to have wires the right analog stick backwards, but that's it. Look for the article this weekend.

wow, thats a pretty strong battery. Higher voltage, so it's stronger than mine. That's probably how he split it to power the screen as well...I have 2 batteries, one for the system and one for the screen (both 7.4v, one at 2.2 and the other at 6.0). Can't wait to see Ben's all finished :)

Strong and heavy! I bet this thing weighes close to 2 pounds!

Yeah, the RGB is nice... I think on that small screen the composite "crawl" is rather noticible, so when it's gone THAT'S noticible as well.

There's a screw whose head has broken off... I need a Dremel to cut a groove to remove it, but I don't have one. I may have to visit a friend who does... This may delay me a bit, but I've already got most of the story pages ready 2 go.
