can i charge 6 Nihms with my 9.6 rc battery charger?
or will it make the batteries explode?

no. 6 AAs=7.2v. that doesn't work with a 9.6v charger. you should get a AA NiMH charger

The MAX712/713 ICs can be used to make NiMH/Ni-Cd chargers. There are schematics on that page, and I posted some links with better schematics, somewhere in the N64 forum. You can use the foum search to find them. The best part is that you can get 2 free samples of both chips.
