Ribbon Cable

One of the tabs that holds the ribbon cable into place on the back of the PSOne board has broken off, but the other is still intact. Am I basically screwed, or is it possible to hot-glue it into place?

I've found what seems to be a fix - I noticed it mostly stopped working when I wiggled around the ribbon cable so I took off the cable and checked it out. I put electric tape over the entire area of the board that the ribbon cable rests on, thinking maybe some traces were touching it, and now it ...

Yes - definitely. The thing is it sometimes works, then othertimes does not. I'm just completely lost.

At this point I'm just sort of confused. To be honest, I've been giving it pressure and reattaching the ribbon cable firmly and I haven't been able to get it correct itself for awhile. This exact thing happened to my last one - it just got progressively worse, and I have no clue as to why this ...

Weird things is - I haven't done the brightness mod yet, and to the best of my knowledge have gone nowhere near there with solder. The only places I've soldered (other than the LED connections) are the 5v on the regulator and the ends of the resistors.

Er...

It's particularly hard to exchange a screen that you've since cracked open, especially one you bought off of Ebay. Not to mention, the screen worked fine before I did the mod, and now it doesn't. Something still tells me it's not the ribbon cable though - I've taken the LCD off and inspected the ...

*Sigh

It seems to fix itself when you move around the LCD's cable, but then it might also be a combination of pressure on the case - it's very hard to tell EXACTLY what fixes it, as it's very sporadic and it only actually works for a split second. I surely hope there's not a crack in the cable - if that's ...

It doesn't seem to be the cables - remember that the LED's stay on at ALL TIMES. I think it has something to do with the ribbon cable, but it's secured well in its thing - I've even unplugged and replugged it back in. The weird thing is if I put pressure on portions of the metal casing (i.e. just ...

PSOne Screen Problem - Revisited

Had a problem with my last hacked screen which went unsolved. I took the LCD for cracked (as it did seem to have a hairline crack in it) and tossed it to buy another. I've just hooked up and am having similar problems with this one. Here's the situation. If ANYBODY has ANY CLUE as to why this is ...

I can't see any "little exntension plastic thing" - this used to just pop into place, and it doesn't look like anything has broken off of the connector - I've just completely got no clue.

So is the tab on the actual white connecter, or is it on the mobo? Is there one of the front (where the leads ...

A little under five minutes ago, it snapped into place nicely. Now I can't figure out how to get it back in. I swear, if anything else could go wrong with this thing...

It's almost like I've cracked the LCD and it's just going haywire. But the thing I can't understand is that this totally corrects itself and works every once inawhile perfectly fine. Not to mention I've checked out the LCD glass and see no problems anywhere.

Well, I don't even know if that's it, because the screen normally doesn't just go completely black OR white. It usually picks one and then randomly has lines moving across. I move the casing around and sometimes it corrects itself, or if I give pressure in the corner where there is no LED, the ...

Sometimes Works

Well...the screen now works sometimes. A lot of the time it will flicker back and forth between white and black and make all sorts of odd patterns. Depending on where I put pressure on the screen, every once in awhile, it'll go back to normal (black) and I can see the volume/brightness stuff. I've ...
